THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice revolves around various aspects of family law. She focuses a majority of her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes the distribution of marital property, child custody battles, child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues, step-parent and private party adoptions as well as child welfare concerns. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including wills, trusts, probate, and estate administration, in addition to commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year 2019. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. Ashley mediates private cases as well as court-appointed mediation for individuals who want to avoid court proceedings and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students in her class. During her time at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal scholarship and research.

Ashley began her clerkship journey after completing her law degree. She worked for renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown Maryland to serve as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her main focus at the firm was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the from their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to tackling social injustice extended beyond her legal career as she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to educate the public about human trafficking within the tri-state region.

In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law including divorce, child support, custody and guardianships as well as estate planning, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxy and mediation.

Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the aim of providing a personalized approach for every client's needs.
